THANKS TO ITS WOOD, ITLAS BRINGS NATURE’S BEAUTY INSIDE THE HOME
The Treviso-based company chooses the most prized forest trunks to manufacture floors, claddings, and furniture made in Italy
Thanks to Itlas, wood - for its natural beauty and ability to render warm and cosy any environment - is one of the most popular choices, when it comes to cladding and designer furniture. For homes or for the contract sector, or, most importantly, whether dealing with interiors in minimal, vintage, or industrial style, hardwood floors are always the perfect solution.
The Treviso-based company, founded in 1988 by Patrizio Dei Tos, and specialised in the production and sale of made-in-Italy hardwood floors, proves its expertise through numerous and diverse projects of interior design starring its own products. The versatility of wood, in terms of aesthetics and performance, makes it a natural, ecological, and recyclable material both for classical and modern décor, for outdoor and indoor decorations. The Treviso brand, which is a leader in this sector, demonstrates this point with its precious creations.
At every stage of production, Itlas has to deal with issues like innovation, aesthetic research, and, most important of all, its responsibility to the environment and society at large. From trunk to parquet, the lifecycle of the product — which in today’s company is not limited to pre-finished floors, but has broadened to include wood-based artistic compositions, cladding, and wooden furniture — is followed closely throughout its evolution. The reputation for quality acquired by the brand begins with the choice of the raw materials, the trunks, which are sourced exclusively from sustainably managed forests, most of them certified.
In the warehouses, 80% of the supply is made up of oak from France and the Balkans, beech from the nearby Foresta del Cansiglio, fir, birch, and various other noble solid woods. The manufacturing process follows the natural cycle of the tree: the plant is cut between December and March, then the trunks are processed by hand, seasoned, and treated with vinyl glues and water-based varnishes, before entering the production line. The average time running between choice of the trunk and sale of the finished floor is a year and a half.
The multiuse nature of wood is underscored by the versatility of the production, which boasts a catalogue of natural materials for interiors characterised by different ‘souls’. From the Grandi Classici series, featuring a timeless and sophisticated style inspired by Europe’s historic houses, to 5 Millimetri, an innovative and quick-to-install wood cladding that is as thin as a second skin, a modern product conceived to satisfy any need associated to the renovation and transformation of rooms and their decoration. Among the other products are Legni del Doge, a two-layer pre-finished parquet made of solid noble wood and a multi-layer birch support realised with different wood species and finishes; Tavole del Piave, a large prefinished three-layer planking designed for floors, dropped ceilings, and cladding, with an exposed layer in noble wood, a counter-face in fir hardwood, and a central core in birch plywood; and Assi del Cansiglio, a prefinished three-layer planking in beech wood, solid oak, and birch plywood available in various finishes, which can be applied on any pre-existing surface.
Besides the floors, Itlas collections include wood furniture lines like Collezione i Massivi and 5 Millimetri Progetto Bagno, whereby essences that originally gave floors or walls their character, become a defining element of decoration for the living area and the bathroom. The combination of design and nature promotes concepts linked to elegance and refinement, identifying those areas where emotions and intimacy intermingle.
