Gallery ALL opens in Beijing

From Los Angeles, the design gallery launches a new branch in China with an exhibition of Aranda\Lasch

It seems like a play on words: ALL in Beijing. And it says a lot about a trend that continues unabated: everyone wants a base, a representation in Beijing. The place to be, now, is here. Gallery ALL of Los Angeles opened in May with an exhibition dedicated to the Chinese designers Naihan Li and Zhoujie Zhang and now inaugurates its base in Beijing with a personal exhibition of the American design and architecture studio Aranda\Lasch. The dense dialogue seems clear, highlighting the interweaving that links the two countries, their respective cultures and traditions. A dialogue which will benefit the market, research and production as well.

Until 12 November, Gallery ALL will host in its Chinese space at Jiuxianqiao Road the exhibition Crystal Rules: a retrospective that investigates the most experimental face of the work by Aranda\Lasch. New pieces, alongside other historical works, will tell of the passion of the two Americans for crystallographic structures, with a peculiar concept of modularity destined to develop to the maximum the potential of the material. Starting from the geometric structures of these designer furnishings, new methods of production and assembly are also studied, for research in relation to design on a truly broad spectrum.

In parallel, during Beijing Design Week (from 26 September to 3 October), Gallery ALL Beijing will present the exhibition “I am a Monument”, with a series of new pieces created by the Chinese designer Naihan Li. One of these works has already been optioned by Hong Kong’s M+ Museum, which will include it in its collection in 2015.
