When it comes to choosing the ideal outdoor furniture for your private garden, the risk of focusing on mere aesthetics while forgetting complements’ actual efficiency and weather-resistance is quite high. The result? To go back shopping fresh new garden furniture all over again in a few years.

In order to avoid such unpleasant surprises, Tom Fereday released SP01, the collection born from the close collaboration between two remotely distant countries – Italy and Australia – with the aim of giving outdoor furniture an undisputed appeal.

The collection features stools, outdoor tables and chairs manufactured in Italy with the highest standards so to hold up in the harshest weather conditions and wildest environments, like the Australian outdoors. Although brilliantly fitting any indoor setting, the SP01 series is mainly designed to adapt to outdoor conditions. This is the reason why Tom – a firm believer in durable design – submitted the furniture to very severe stress tests and maniacally accurate manufacturing processes. Especially the chairs had to go through three different steps: steel pieces are first dipped in hot nickel, followed by Cataphoresis (e-coat, a cross between elctro-plating and painting that improves the material longevity). Then finally they are powder coated in a commercially graded textured, coloured finish.

Outdoor furniture of apparently minimalistic design, the collection makes use of bent steel rod, ultra-thin yet artfully intertwined; SP01 allows for great comfort and lightness, two perfect features for both domestic and commercial environments – see the Jeanette and Chee outdoor chair, available with or without a low profile cushion for indoor/outdoor use.

Outdoor tables complete the selection with Parisi, whose hair-pin legs and tapering waist not only result in a distinctive silhouette, but are also the basis for its strength and timeless style. Each of the table's four legs is fluidly connected to each other via an intersecting sub-frame made from powder-coated stainless steel. Finish options include High Pressure Laminate (HPL), White Carrara or Accoya.
