Golden details and colourful walls, the secret of restyling is light

Miriam Barrio restyled an apartment in Barcelona with Mediterranean freshness

Golden details and colourful walls: this is the silver thread in Miriam Barrio’s project for the renovation of an apartment in Barcelona.

This one-floor apartment, once dark and uncoloured, became a lively home that completely reflects the cosmopolitan and innovative spirit of the city. In this new version, the apartment has a new room distribution and repartition, allowing natural light to invade all spaces.

All this was possible thanks to Barrio’s restyling. She successfully used all corners, not used before, and passageways, giving them light, the most important element in the project.

The Spanish designer is particularly famous for her attention and value to details, with the intention of personalising houses and apartments. In this project, she added peculiar golden touches on objects such as lamps, accessories and cabinets. She was able to give them a sense of luxury and fullness, combined with intense colours applied without restraints on the walls of bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen.

The latter has been painted with an unusual midnight-blue, in contrast with the central living area that evokes classic vibes and features white as the dominant colour. Both bathrooms and bedrooms stand out for their unique identities and their strong shades that have been harmoniously combined with the other golden and black decorations. These make the apartment not only a beautiful place to live but also a unique design experience.

On one hand, neutral and soft tones contribute to visually expand areas, on the other, colours give a special personality to the rooms owners feel mostly attached to.

Miriam Barrio, as you can read on her website, always fully dedicates herself to each of her projects. She can really fall in love with a place being able to transform it according to future owners’ needs. In this specific case, she successfully transmitted the fresh, dynamic and Mediterranean spirit of Barcelona, a vibrant and culturally stimulating city on the sea.
