Two of Italy’s most celebrated exports – opera and Dolce & Gabbana clothing – now happily coexist under the same roof within the premises of the maison’s latest Miami Design District boutique store.

A project by architect Gwenael Nicolas of Curiosity, the showroom explicitly echoes the world-famous 17th-century’s opera house and one of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s reportedly all-time fave, Milan’s Teatro alla Scala.

Located in the city’s hip Design District, this is the brand’s 18th outpost across the globe and stretches over a 500 square-metre area as an homage to the fashion design duo’s love for theatrical play and the Bel Paese itself.

Such dreamy location blends cream-coloured polished/raw travertine and Veselve marble with Baroque mirrors and dark walnut furnishings enriched with shiny steel and gold velvet so to invoke La Scala’s romantic feel down to the last detail: from the bending glass façade recalling a theatre curtain to spotlights embedded into the ceiling aimed at illuminating the classic fiberglass sculptures and busts of actors arranged as if they were ready to perform on stage.

A mix of cutting-edge design and museum-like atmosphere, not to mention all displayed creations, definitely provide a good reason to visit Dolce & Gabbana’s latest boutique, where to browse a wide array of prêt-a-porter collections, menswear, womenswear, refined jewellery and watches.

No wonder that the maison’s new art-imbued store is located right in the beating heart of the Miami Design District.

Once a “sleepy” neighbourhood dotted with design showrooms, it has progressively turned into a buzzing and vibrant district over the last few years.

The Italian fashion brand keeps experimenting with concept stores; just think of the recent opening of its boldly designed outpost catering to millennials in New York City — with graffiti murals perfect for much-loved Instagram selfies being the cherry on top.

In the case you will step in the boutique and find yourself a bit puzzled – wait, am I in Milan or in Miami? – well, it means that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have certainly reached the target.
