The Student Hotel is a project by a Dutch hospitality group that offers off-campus students a unique hybrid co-living and co-working experience.
Masquespacio, Valencia-based design studio, worked on the building and styling of the two student halls in Barcelona, in the Marina and Poble-Sec districts.
The Campus Marina is inside a four-tower building and it’s 21,000 square metres altogether, with 500 student rooms. The structure has common areas, pools, game rooms, open and close living rooms and study rooms to foster networking and socialising.
The Student Hotel has a very peculiar personality. Masquespacio designed it with their own touch, creating a mix of colourful, post-modern and Mediterranean vibes through local materials and a bold colour palette.
This eclectic style that combines patters, materials and different colours inspires students’ daily lives. The two student hallsfeature ‘70s vintage elements, industrial aesthetics, exposed concrete, metal details and bright colours that recall the sun and the sea.
Ana Hernández, Creative Director at Masquespacio, underlines that: “Colours not only affect our mood but can also be used to create a bold design identity inside living spaces”.
Campus Marina is in Calle Sancho de Avila, in the 22nd district of the city, a new business area outcome of a big renewal project involving firms, universities, shopping malls, hotels and exhibition centres.
Campus Poble-Sec, slightly smaller, is in Avenida Parallel in the Sants-Montjuic district, a lively residential neighbourhood with restaurants and theatres, and well connected with the universities around the city.
