A Swiss hotel whose roof doubles as a ski slope.

They’re making it a reality in Le Brassus, among the pristine landscapes of the Vallèe de Joux, and it’s called Hôtel des Horlogers. Behind the major commission is none other than luxury watch makers Audemars Piguet.

Working on the project is Copenhagen studio BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group (with headquarters also in London and New York), in collaboration with the local professionals of Cche Architecture.

The Hôtel des Horlogers is set to open in 2020 and will become the ideal hotel for ski lovers with an entire rooftop line that can be skied, zig-zagging down the hotel to the ski slopes and the nearby Audemars Piguet Museum (Also designed by BIG).

The mountain hotel will count over 6,400 square meters articulated through 5 separate volumes. 50 rooms are internally connected by a continuous, inclined corridor, which will help circulate visitors and hotel services. The hotel looks to satisfy ever desire with two restaurants, a bar, spa, and conference room — all of which are hidden under the sloping slabs that face a sunny panorama.

From the principal street accessing the hotel, they claim “the zig-zag roof of the hotel will frame the view of the surrounding valley, establishing a connection between the hotel and the gorgeous landscapes.
