On the eve of the 54th Salone del Mobile in Milan, which will star the top Italian and foreign furniture design companies, Porada is previewing its new collection: a selection of elegant furniture in a range of materials, including bookcases, chairs, tables and consoles.

The products, share a basic style enhanced and promoted by the high level of craftsmanship with which they are produced. They clearly demonstrate just how much the DNA of the Allievi family’s historical companyis centred on a pathway of research and development that has never disregarded its origins, focusing today more than ever on the value of Italian production and on attention to detail.

The event in Milan is a significant one, providing the international brand with the opportunity to show an audience of experts and insiders from all over the world the important role that know‑how plays in the Porada way of life, and how much a language born locally can be understood universally when the subject in hand is furnishing a home with elegance and good taste.

But what will be new in 2015? Last year, the Fourteen collection introduced the company’s partnerships with designers such as Emmanuel Gallina, a talented young French designer, and Hans Sandgren Jakobsen, a successful designer from Denmark, whose designs were incorporated in the company’s standard production. Next April in Milan, Porada will present Fifteen, a collection of many new products, all featuring natural materials - wood, leather, glass, marble - and characterised by simple designs that anticipate one of the lifestyle trends of the next few months: the combination of elegance and maximum practicality.

The undisputed star of the show will be the material used, presented in various forms but always to be touched, caressed and appreciated. This is true in the case of the Webby bench, designed by Carlo Ballabio as an extension of the Ziggy family of products. A contemporary yet iconic seat that inspires comfort and warmth. Versatile and elegant, with its padded seat available in bright colours, it blends in perfectly with all of the two hundred plus products in the Porada range.

Another piece worth mentioning is the Biblo bookcase, designed by Tarcisio Colzani, a well‑known Porada designer. Simple and totemic, its solid wood frame is enhanced by its basic geometric shape with no sharp corners.

Each product – and this is a fundamental aspect of the Porada philosophy – can be customised and upholstered in different materials, including many new finishes recently added to the range, such as the Moka finish and the use of acidated crystal with a black painted backing.
