“The winners are…”, this famous words were pronounced last December 4 at the Como Villa del Grumello, when the jury of the Porada 2017 International Design Award indicated the young talents who deserved to win the now traditional competition promoted by the well-known brand of design from Brianza together with POLI.design and ADI, the Association for Industrial Design

It is thanks to these competitions, the lifeblood for young people and their fresh and innovative way of thinking, that design is enriched with new hints and original ideas.
The winners were seven, four in the Professional category and three in the Students category, all inspired by this year's theme: the tables. It was necessary to propose a special project that nevertheless conveyed the distinctive traits of Porada, who has always been one of the key players of the Made in Italy design. The tables included different types: living room tables, coffee tables, side tables, service tables and so on.

The jury, composed of sector experts including Bruno Allievi (MD Porada), Roberto De Paolis (POLI.design), Francesca Taroni (Editor in Chief of Living), had to choose between 209 projects, 101 for professionals and 108 among students, coming both from the Belpaese and from abroad. The choice was not easy because all were works of remarkable quality, but the most original one were worthy of new design solutions.

The winner of the Professionals category is Sliding Plates, designed by Luca Giacomelli and Lorenzo Rossotti, that stands out for the three support surfaces, freed from one another and independently rotatable, allowing to vary the morphology of the table itself, transmitting to the object a playful element that the final user can exploit by modifying the layout of his living space even with a single complement.

The first prize in the Students category was instead awarded to Nicole Maccari and Serena Chille ', students of the Milan Politecnico, thanks to Noua, that can function as a coffee table, thanks to the incorporated and removable tray, such as emptying pockets, through the section carved under the tray, and as a magazine rack, thanks to a folded sheet of metal, which also acts as a support for the entire table.
