There are spaces. Spaces where things happen. Spaces where things will happen. And there are spaces where things are happening. That’s the time a space becomes a place (picture above). This is the photograph of my advent moment.
Ingrid Taro (text by Eugenia Murialdo)
A sack full of little coloured stars. (Picture above). There’s a stationery store in Beijing where with just one Euro, visitors can buy a sack full of tiny and colourful paper stars. I bought a few sacks to give away as presents because they seem a bunch of hand-sized dreams.
Last time I’ve been there a women with a beautiful and child-like face asked me full of pride: “Do you like them? I’m the one that makes them.” And then, with effortless and delicate gestures, she made a star appears from a paper strip, and she passed it to me.
The stars travelled a long way arriving to Milan and, thanks to Ingrid’s efforts, they’ve started shining at the opposite side of the world. Now, little stars light up the one hundred years old Ciaro olive trees of Santa Maria di Leuca, filling the air with joy and hope. They are there to remind us of Christmas dreams of peace and love.
Chri-Cry (Christmas in Crystals)
A crystal decomposes the light bundle passing through it (picture above): it’s a complex web of refractions spreading in the space and generating infinite trajectories. The crystal is placed at the converging point of three different levels and the fulcrum of the solid composition bounces on the walls, passing from a glare to the other.Focusing and replenishing: Each of us lives Christmas somewhere between these two outer points.
This picture represents Christmas up to me: decorations everywhere, fake pine trees and, left here and there, little firecrackers (called “ciccioli”). That’s Christmas for me: plastic and firecrackers. I’ve chosen black and white because white is the colour that, up to me, best symbolise Christmas.
