7 little Christmas gift ideas, with a twist. For late Christmas shoppers

For those who still haven’t bought that last Christmas present here are 7 little ideas to surprise those special people with an original thought under the Christmas tree

2 days to Christmas. For those who willingly or unwillingly are last minute shoppers and who are still up in the air with the Christmas gifts, here are 7 Christmas gift suggestions for you: original and hilarious ideas between beauty, jewelry, leisure, limited edition, legends, chocolate and… pasta!

7 Christmas gift ideas – and also some more – each with a twist, or with a little story, or legend, to tell.

1. Make-up and beauty with a twist

Let’s start with Christmas suggestions for girlfriends, a beauty product and make-up gift. Shu Uemura, an asset in the field from Japan, celebrates Christmas 2017 with a blast of pixels for an 80s revival, entering into a partnership with Nintendo that catapults video-game hero Super Mario Bros. onto fun limited-edition hair products: Shampoo, Conditioner, Oil and Master Wax.

And here is Nars, another giant in the beauty and make-up industry. It pays homage to Dadaism and Surrealism art with a collection dedicated to Man Ray. This Holiday Collection 2017 offers a limited edition line of products and coffers with the most iconic images and symbols of the American artist, who actually spent most of his life in France. Lipsticks, blushes, lip pencils and eyeshadows, with a Man Ray touch: for Christmas gifts to those lovers of art and quality.

François Nars himself, NARS' founder and Creative Director, who started out as make-up artist but worked also as a photographer, was influenced by many of Man Ray’s works.

2. Journey to the Moon… made of chocolate!

The 2017 Christmas Collection by Pierre Marcolini, Belgian chocolatier, is sheer poetry, starting from the name itself: “Journey to the Moon”, or, in French, “Rendez-vous avec la Lune”. Planets, the Eclipse, mini moons, all in a variety of colors and tastes: a chocolate fairy tale with several choices of gift boxes and assortments.

3. Everyone at the table!

More Christmas gifts for the palate, but this time Made in Italy. A brilliant, unexpected synergy, in honor of tradition and conviviality. The protagonists? Pasta and fashion! On the one hand Dolce & Gabbana, our most enthusiastic supporter and ambassador of Italy and Mediterranean energy; on the other, Pastificio Di Martino, 105 years of excellence for the table from Naples (Gragnano). They get together and have fun doing a limited edition of gift packages and boxes of penne pasta and spaghetti, paccheri… including an apron by DG. Hurray for family, pasta and Italy!

4. 3D string of pearls

Are you looking for Christmas gifts for girlfriends or mothers but you want to avoid the classic string of pearls? Bon ton becomes high tech! Milanese designer Giulio Iacchetti designs a colored pearl matching set created with 3D printing consisting of necklace, earrings, bracelet and a ring. In this case the pearl is a mechanical knot that allows flexibility and movement. The collection is named “Bearing” as in ball bearing, which he designed specifically for Maison 2013, a young start-up from Treviso specializing in 3D-printed contemporary jewelry, founded by Venezuelan designer Orlando Fernando Flores and Lucia De Conti, a graphic designer with passion for fashion. And the pearls are available are red, olive green, blue and black.

5. A book  that… rocks!

New York, the dazzling, irreverent disco years of Studio 54. There has never been—and will never be—another nightclub to rival the uninhibited creativity and kinetic energy that was Studio 54, able to compete and recreate its vibe, glamour and jet set.

Its history, people and parties are now told in a book, Studio 54. Founded in 1977, and in action in its original concept only for three years, it brought together on its dance floor an impressive list of celebrities, artists, musicians, and actors, from Andy Warhol to Mike Jagger, Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor. The book is published by Rizzoli International and curated by Studio 54 co-founder Ian Schrager, with the foreword and interview by Paul Goldberger and the introduction by Bob Colacello. Its existence was only three years, but Studio 54 remains one of the most stunning cultural landmarks of the twentieth century, still legendary.

6. Water and road myths at your fingertips

Something for those who love Riva motorboats? Here you have something, literally, at your fingertips. The shipyard based in Sarnico, excellence in the world, proposes iPhone cases in mahogany with steel insets, like a mini-real reproduction of the motorboat deck of its historic models. With also the unmistakable aquamarine touch, that always distinguishes Riva.

Acquariva Lamp, coffee set, keyring, cushions, foulards… Riva offers a vast collection of accessories for him, her and the home, always inspired by its legendary colors, shapes and materials.

And now another myth, this time a 4-wheel one, always in a pocket size version. Here are Automobili Lamborghini playing cards, personalized with the shield logo on a pattern of stylized tyre tread marks. They come in an elegant box and double case. To “gamble” and to everyone loving supercars and the grit of Sant’Agata Bolognese.

And, a tidbit: for the very last minute Christmas tree makers, here are Lamborghini Christmas silver and gold balls!

7. Notes on jeans.....and the coming year

Jeans, another indestructible legend. Cowboy, Elvis, freedom and fashion. The USA and rock’n’roll. Moleskine gets inspired by denim and its universe of rebellion, creativity and experimentation and proposes a new collection of notebooks called exactly “Denim”.

And, finally, time.

“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then”, “Was I the same when I got up this morning?”

Time according to Alice: Moleskine dedicates its 2018 limited edition agenda to “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Original drawings on the textile cover with quotes and thoughts from that magical, upside down, world and its characters. Fall down the rabbit hole if you will but be careful never to be late.
