Maison 203 launches the charming, 3D printed Oseléto: a contemporary souvenir from Venice
Studio Zaven designs a little black bird as a playful reminder of Piazza San Marco’s famous pigeons
'Oseléto’, the little black 3D printed bird produced by Maison 203 and designed by studio Zaven is conceived as a contemporary souvenir recalling the classic St Mark’s Square pigeon
Got tired of the same, old souvenirs? Maison 203 offers an original alternative: a 3D printed keepsake (read also → L'artigianato digitale di Maison 203: gioielli e accessori in stampa 3D) to give your loved ones once back from a trip to the Venetian lagoon or – why not? – as a really unconventional Christmas gift.
Designed to celebrate the first Venice flagship store of Maison 203, a brand created in 2011 which designs and produces collections of jewels and accessories made using the innovative 3D printing technology, this little bird belongs to the Fritto Misto collection, a new range of design souvenirs inspired by a playful concept, light years away from the usual must-sees of tourist guides and based on the apparently less glamorous features of Venetian landscape and culture – and, just because of this, even more authentic.
The Venetian brand is set on broadening its horizons by adding to its accessories collections realized in collaboration with the most renowned Italian design companies a series of little, contemporary souvenirs. Multidisciplinary studio Zaven has therefore given its own version of a portable Venice with a new project which has been officially launched for the upcoming edition of the Maison et Objet trade show.
Oseléto is a small bird completely made of sintered nylon through a 3D printing process. It is available in two sizes – 14 or 10 cm h – and makes for a friendly, delicate object designed to keep you company: an immediate reminder of the pigeon, the symbol of a minor Venice and an unmissable icon of St Mark’s Square at the same time.
While its square, linear geometrical shapes build volumes and play with light, its general concept recalls the iconic House Bird by Charles and Ray Eames, featuring the same black color, as well as the reinterpretation of the same theme by the Bouroullec Brothers for Vitra.
