Inspired by the eclectic shapes of Zaha Hadid’s architecture, the jewellery collection for women Lamellae was created by Georg Jensen in collaboration with the archistar.

Ahead of Zaha Hadid’ sad departure, the Danish brand Georg Jensen gave birth to Lamellae, the women’s jewellery collection that was initially created with the architect in January 2016 and today celebrates one of the most talented genius of our century.

A tribute collection composed by five rings and three bangles plays with a waving silhouette that is synonymous with Hadid’s architecture, as proved by such outstanding works as the Heydar Aliyey Center in Baku (Azerbaijan), the Galaxy Soho in Beijing, the Acquatics Centre or the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in London, just to name a few.

Wearable 3D sculptures in silver and gold together with diamonds that play the most spectacular games of light thanks to the opaque and lacquered surfaces. “There’s always been a consistency in Zaha Hadid’s work. We tried to maintain the same coherency in the forms and the architectures of this collection”, says David Chu, Creative Director at the helm of Georg Jensen. The latter has encrusted the best of the luxury on accessories since 1904 from the heart of Copenhagen to all over the world.

Early this year, Zaha Hadid announced “Working with Georg Jensen represents a greater opportunity to see our work in a small, different scale. The first inspiration comes from the nature, the muse behind all my architectural works. There is no building that wasn’t designed to be in harmony with the surrounding and the scenery to which it belongs. The challenge lies in the creation of wearable works of art that will take the shape of luxury fashion”.
