To find out the hottest events and the best installations at Fuorisalone 2018, just ask the taxi drivers.

They’re on the streets all week between the major crowds and buzzing events with non-stop calls to carry visitors and locals alike to the best stops. And they also know where nobody seems to be going…

According to them, the best events of the year at Fuorisalone 2018 are the DimoreStudio apartment (Via Solferino 11) — an emotional embrace in padded rooms showcasing the furnishings of Progetto non finito; the Nendo show at Superstudiopiù (Via Tortona 27), Forms of Movement, an installation of 10 futuristic objects under the chorus of “tutto scorre” (everything passes); and the installation from Phillip K. Smith for Cos, reflecting the Milanese sky in the courtyard of Palazzo Isimbardi in Corso Monforte 35.

Seeing these three won’t be easy — to avoid the lines in these last days of Milan Design Week, we recommend showing up early. Once you’ve seen DimoreStudio, take a quick spin through the Brera Design District and the project from Raffaella Guidobono at the Brera Design Apartment, where 12 objects and more designers interpret the city (Via Palermo 1). In the same street, Vitra’s Typecasting show looks at the sofa through 6 new models in a completely new interpretation led by Robert Stadler. Don’t miss the Bulgari labyrinth, featuring three surreal spaces confronting the brand's relationship with design (Via delle Erbe 2).

Those who choose to start with Nendo in the Tortona district can catch the Extinct Animals Museum with Mooi (Via Savona 56) and the Fabbricare Fare Disfare show in a collaboration from Nonostantemarras (Via Cola di Renzo 8). Moving towards the center, stop by the Rossana Orlandi Gallery, where tech giant Google has teamed up with Li Edelkoort among other projects from emerging talent and established designers (Via Matteo Bandello 14/16).

Finally, for those who opt for the Cos showing with Phillip K. Smith, the best choice is to swing by the light showroom of Flos, where Michael Anastassiades presents the installation Jewels after jewels after jewels and Alejandro Aravena showcases Elemental by Artemide.

Around lunch, head to Palestro at Palazzo Bovara for the exhibit from Elle Decor Italia, Onlife. Millennials at Home, dedicated to generational living with a restaurant and outdoor bar — subtropical garden included.

In the afternoon, move over to the 5VIE district, where you’ll catch Vegan Design - the project curated by Maria Cristina Didero in Garage Sanremo (Via Zecca Vecchia 3) with artist Erez Nevi Pana demonstrating design options without animal derivatives. Don’t forget Arcadia, the immersive installation by Sara Ricciardi, curated by Alice Stori Liechtenstein (Via Cesare Correnti 14).

From here, grab the metro on the red line to Rovereto, destination: Alcova. In the gorgeous spaces of the old Cova bakery factory, open to the public for the first time, uncover 27 installations selected by Joseph Grima of Space Caviar and Valentina Ciuffi of Studio Vedèt.

Last stop is in Ventura Centrale to catch the giant puppets, the installation by Stephan Hürlemann for Horgenglarus, the oldest Swiss manufacturers of design chairs and tables.

At the end of the day, enjoy the international life in Milan with a hamburger break at The Diner, the pop-up restaurant from David Rockwell in Via Ferrante Aporti.
