The countdown to Milan’s Salone del Mobile 2018 has begun, and if you’re a fan of Scandinavian design, you absolutely can’t miss Design Republic. Not only do they carry the best design brands hailing from Northern Europe, but during Fuorisalone 2018 they’ll be hosting a special event with Normann Copenhagen.

With their first location in Corso di Porta Ticinese 3 opening back in 2015, brother and sister duo Marco and Giulia Mornata of Design Republic have opened shop at their second location in Piazza Tricolore 2.

Offering the best of New Scandinavian design, they stock the pieces that are sure to satisfy even the most particular collector. The high-quality products are paired with accessible prices, which is perfect for the younger crowd looking to save or those that aren’t quite ready to shell out their savings for furnishings.

“I didn’t want a showroom,” Marco tells us, “but a real store, with a modern style that would be immediately recognized by our clients - not with a redundant sense of luxury.”

Gubi, &tradition, Muuto, Playtipe, Normann Copenhagen, and more recently, Hay, are just a few of the brands you’ll find at Design Republic. “I like the style of this space”, says Mette Hay, co-founder of the namesake brand, “where you can breathe the right mix of Nordic minimalism and Italian style. Because of that, we chose to sell our Kitchen Market collection here, which is inspired by artisan traditions in diverse countries with a Scandinavian design twist.”

Beyond the playful accessories for the table and kitchen by the Danish brand, conquering the world with its ironic and colorful style, there’s the show by Normann Copenhagen. The brand looks to set up in the store at Piazza del Tricolore in occasion for the Milan Design Week.

For the first time ever, the group led by Poul Madsen and Jan Normann chose not to exhibit in the fairgrounds, but at Fuorisalone. They chose the special location of Design Republic to unveil their newest collections, among which are the sofas that exude the sensation of Hygge. Much loved by the millennials, Normann Copenhagen has prepared the sofas in their trademark color palette.
