Nilufar Depot joins the Fuorisalone 2016 with a unique setting

On the occasion of Milano Design Week, Nina Yashar converted a former warehouse set on Via Lancetti into an art gallery showcasing the excellence of international design

During the Fuorisalone 2016, Nilufar Depot certainly made it as a must-see stop-over for any proper design enthusiast out there. This charming, generous-sized space located on via Lancetti is home to a rich collection of both timeless and avant-garde contemporary design objects picked by gallerist Nina Yashar (read also  Parola di Nina Yashar)
First inaugurated in 2015 (read also  Nilufar Depot: un nuovo indirizzo a Milano), the former warehouse was turned into an eclectic and multifunctional hub stretching over a 1500 square-metre area by architect Massimiliano Locatelli from CLS Architetti; this year, the excellence of international design was being displayed within a truly unique setting that featured an evoking composition of lurid-coloured rugs at its core.
The permanent collection was expanded with more than 20 contemporary must-haves artfully showcased inside the gallery’s side modules along with a fine selection of vintage furniture, period mirrors and quirky tapestry. The top-level bunch of designers involved includes names of the likes of Xavier Lust, Claude Missir, Martino Gamper, Lindsey Adelman and Michael Anastassiades, who realised an innovative lighting installation.
Well-established masters were in the good company of emerging talents: Federico Peri debuted with a set of industrial design-inspired dwelling units and the Anello table collection, while Francesco Faccin presented a brass table realised by Fonderia Artistica Battaglia exclusively for Nilufar.
An upper-level loggia accommodates the cubical architecture conceived by architect Roberto Baciocchi to showcase Mirror Room, a real treasure chest cladded with ancient mirror tiles – nothing but a precious sitting room crammed with rare accessories. Lastly, a selection of furniture by Gio Ponti is also on show, with timeless masterpieces so smoothly merging with the location’s more contemporary feel.
