Google arrives at Salone del Mobile 2018 with the latest round of innovative technology, Softwear. The installation, curated by Li Edelkoort in collaboration with Kiki van Eijk breathes life into a sensorial experience with hardware imagined by Ivy Ross, Vice President of Google’s Hardware Design.

Launching their first line of hardware products, Made by Google, two years ago, the collection was elaborated last year with a second release of products ranging from headphones to laptops, and the Pixel 2. This year, the tech giant aims to impress with a project at Fuorisalone 2018 presented in the spaces of Rossana Orlandi.

Softwear defined by Edelkoort in 1998 as a lifestyle, is a trend uniting technology with skill to imagine an entirely new way of living.

The very same trend was explored by Elle Decor Italia in 2016 with the Soft Home exhibit located in Palazzo Bovara in occasion for the Salone del Mobile. The Soft Home featured furnished rooms with design pieces that were animated by a sophisticated and intuitive technology. This year, Google will also make an appearance as the main partner of the magazine’s latest exhibit, Onlife. Millennials at home, set to open April 16th in Palazzo Bovara.

Now, 10 years after first developing her theory, Edelkoort hits Fuorisalone together with Google to weave the narrative of a perfectly integrated lifestyle with technology in the contemporary sociocultural panorama. With three halls curated in the space adjacent to the Rossana Orlandi Gallery, Li prepares a textile exhibit, both tactile and comfortable, that offers a new way of using hardware in the domestic environment. The show looks to stimulate a conversation about the future of technology and its integrated presence in our lives.
