A bit French, a bit Californian, a bit industrial, a bit bohemian. Casa Valentina is a holiday home in the Santa Eulalia countryside in Ibiza, near San Juan and very different from the typical Ibiza villa.

The owner is the famous Parisian designer Barbara Boccara, founder of fashion brand BA&SH, who personally took care of every detail, giving the house her very own style.

Barbara always loved Ibiza and had been looking for a place to settle down on the island with her family for a very long time. She could have easily gone for a classical finca or a beach villa but her creative and eclectic attitude needed something more than that. A challenge, a white canvas to paint.

This one-floor house was just perfect for her. In the backcountry of Ibiza, with a linear and a vaguely industrial flavour, it reminds certain placid Californian villas. Here, Barbara let her creativity run free, infusing her boho-chic style to the interiors.

Once you enter the villa, you will instantly feel the need to take off your shoes. Concrete floors and ceilings frame open spaces, full of chairs and sofas decorated with blankets and fluffy cushions that will make you want to chill and relax. Light wooden panels cover the (very few) walls, while sturdy black columns stand out from the white background. This black and white combination is present everywhere in the house and represents Barbara Boccara’s essential elegance.

The sunlight coming in from the ceiling-high wide windows makes the interiors incredibly bright and pure, in contrast with the raw details. Wood, metal, wicker and natural textiles tell us about her search for a constant balance between textiles and other materials. In the living area, for instance, a big rustic wooden table is enhanced by the contrast with the metallic chairs and the contemporary lamps.

Finally, the house couldn’t miss a bohemian touch. So this is why candles, little accessories and art pieces are scattered everywhere with a certain French nonchalance. Local traditions and exotic suggestions coexist in the house. The master bedroom is worthy of a separate mention: here you will have the illusion of sleeping outdoor. The huge glass doors opening up on the private terrace are the only thing separating you from the lush and idillic nature. A contemporary fireplace, a big tailored wardrobe and Indian souvenirs complete the atmosphere. In the main body of the house, there are other three bedrooms while two more are located in a separate dependance.

Outside, you will find the same atmosphere. The pool and the garden, with an attached barbecue and kitchen area, reflect the same casual spirit found inside. At night, thousands of candles create the most romantic atmosphere, while during hot summer days, you can sunbathe on the poolside or relax in the shade of the patio. If you’re a sporty, active person, you’ll be happy to know there’s also a soccer field and a gym. According to Barbara Boccara, the home is a big lounge area where everyone is welcomed. For this reason, the villa can be rented on Ibiza Sotheby’s International Realty website from €34,776 per week. A dedicated chef and a Range Rover to explore the island are included in the price.
